BABY HAT KNITTERS (Adults only; Projects completed at home)
Volunteers knit baby hats for newborn babies.  We supply the pattern and the yarn.
BIO-MED (Adults only; Monday – Friday, flexible day shifts)
Volunteers provide general assistance to Affinity Health System Bio-Med Services with the disassembly of electronic equipment to make certain their components are disposed of in the proper waste stream.
BREAST CENTER (Minimum age 16; Monday – Friday, morning shifts)
Volunteers greet and escort patients, run errands, keep the waiting room clean and organized and make coffee for patients.  Volunteers also provide clerical assistance to staff that may include assisting with mailings, stocking supplies, photocopying and other duties as requested. 
CENTRAL TRANSPORT (Minimum age 15; Monday–Friday, morning and afternoon shifts)
Volunteers deliver supplies and equipment to and from nursing units, ancillary departments and support services.  Volunteers provide transport of stable patients and assist staff with other patient transports. 
CHILDREN'S HEALTH CENTER (Minimum age 14; Monday – Thursday 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. – noon)
Volunteers provide general assistance to staff by escorting patients to departments within St. Elizabeth Hospital, entertaining waiting children and providing limited clerical support.
CLERICAL VOLUNTEERS (Minimum age 14; Monday – Friday, flexible day shifts)
Volunteers provide clerical assistance to staff that may include data entry, filing records, assisting with mailings, stocking office supplies, photocopying and other office duties as requested.  The different departments of St. Elizabeth Hospital that currently utilize clerical volunteers include Volunteer Services, Foundation, Health Information, Employee Health, and Network Health Plan. 
CRAFT ROOM (Adults only; Wednesday, afternoon shift or projects at home)
Volunteers create crafts, knit or sew items or make giant paper flowers for sale in the Gift Shop, or to be given as gifts to newborns, patients or families. 
EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT (Minimum age 18; Monday – Sunday, morning, afternoon and evening shifts)
Volunteers greet and provide information, general directions and comfort services to patients and their families.  Volunteers serve as a goodwill ambassador assisting staff with a variety of tasks to support the overall goal of caring and quality patient care through communication with patients and families, running errands, giving directions, providing wheelchair transport or general escort when needed, and keeping the desk and waiting area tidy.  Volunteers use a computer to access information.
ENTERTAINMENT ESCORT (As needed)
Volunteers escort people/groups which have been scheduled as patient/visitor entertainment throughout the hospital.
EUCHARISTIC MINISTER (Adults only; Tuesday - Friday and Sunday, morning shifts)
Volunteers distribute the Sacrament of the Eucharist to patients, as assigned by the Spiritual Services staff.  Volunteers also assist with church services when requested.
GIFT SHOP BOOKKEEPER (Adults only; Monday – Friday, flexible day shift)
Volunteer provides general assistance to staff by organizing, verifying, compiling and imputing gift shop income information.  Use of computer and knowledge of Excel is necessary.
GIFT SHOP CLERK (Minimum age 14; Monday – Friday, morning, afternoon and evening shifts; Saturday, morning and afternoon shifts;  Sunday, afternoon shifts)
Volunteers greet customers, provide customer service, handle sales via money/checks/credit-debit cards/gift certificates/employee payroll deduction, deliver gifts or flower orders to patients.  Volunteers also dust and straighten and stock shop as needed.
GIFT SHOP DISPLAY DESIGNER (Adults only; as needed)
Volunteer sets up and maintains gift shop merchandise displays in locations within the hospital.
HEALTH INFORMATION (Minimum age 16; Monday – Friday, flexible day shifts)
Volunteers provide general assistance to staff through clerical support in organizing patient filing.
INFORMATION DESK (Minimum age 14; Monday–Friday, morning and afternoon shifts)
Volunteers greet and provide information and general directions to visitors and patients.  Duties include sorting and delivering patient mail, delivering flowers and newspapers, providing wheelchair transport or general escort when needed, and keeping the desk and lobby area tidy.  Volunteers use a computer to access information.
JOINT CAMP (Adults only; Wednesday 7:30 a.m. – noon)
Volunteers assist staff with the half-day group education session for joint replacement patients.  Duties include setting up area and signage, setting out refreshments, escorting patients to the conference rooms, general cleanup and breakdown at conclusion of session.
LIBRARY SERVICES (Minimum age 14; Monday–Friday, morning and afternoon shifts)
Volunteers assist library staff with routine filing, shelving of library materials and photocopying.

NEONATAL ICU (NICU) (Minimum age 18; Monday – Friday, evening shifts)
Volunteers greet, register and orient family members to the procedures of the NICU. Volunteers provide specific unit clerical and organizational support. 
NURSING UNIT: MEDICAL/ONCOLOGY/SURGICAL (Minimum age 17; Monday – Friday, morning, afternoon and evening shifts)
Volunteers assigned to this unit help the staff deliver to our patients an outstanding patient care experience.  Volunteers provide general non-patient care assistance to the staff, patients and visitors on the nursing unit.  Provide clerical support, wheelchair transport of patients and running errands with the main emphasis on hospitality. This position allows volunteers the opportunity to work with and observe health care professionals.
NURSING UNIT: SUBACUTE (Minimum age 16; Monday – Friday, flexible shifts) 
Volunteers provide general non-patient care assistance to the staff, patients and visitors on the nursing unit.  Provide clerical support, wheelchair transport of patients and running errands. Volunteers may also assist staff by providing leisure opportunities for patients.
PALLIATIVE CARE (Adults only; as needed)
Volunteers comfort and engage palliative care (end of life) patients and their families who need personal interaction.
PATIENT REGISTRATION (Minimum age 14; Monday-Friday, morning and afternoon shifts)
Volunteers escort newly registered patients to appropriate area.  Provide wheelchair transport when needed and deliver and/or retrieve paperwork from other departments as requested.
PATIENT/VISITOR LIBRARY and CANCER WIG ROOM (Adults only; Monday–Friday, morning and afternoon shifts)
Volunteers sort, label and distribute new magazines and books to visitors and patients in designated areas throughout the hospital.  Straighten placement of magazines in waiting areas and recycle old issues to provide current reading materials.  Volunteers also organize and straighten cancer patients' loaner wig room.
PET THERAPY (Adults only; Monday – Friday, afternoon and evening shifts)
Volunteers and their dogs provide an opportunity for patients to experience the socialization, entertainment and other benefits that contact with an animal may have and specific to each patient’s needs and interests.  All pets must conform to the standards set forth by Therapy Dogs Incorporated.
PHARMACY (Minimum age 14; Monday–Sunday, morning, afternoon and evening shifts)
Volunteers provide support to Pharmacy staff while gaining knowledge and experience in a pharmacy.  Duties include scheduled deliveries of supplies/meds to various nursing units, assisting with clerical functions and other duties under supervision.
POTTED PLANT MAINTENANCE (Adults only; Monday – Friday, flexible)
Volunteers water, fertilize, prune, dust and repot plants in St. Elizabeth Hospital’s public areas.

RADIOLOGY DEPARTMENT:
CT SCANNING (Minimum age 17; Monday – Friday, morning and afternoon shifts)
Volunteers perform a variety of tasks for staff and patients, including escorting patients, running errands and paperwork.

LOOK GOOD FEEL BETTER PROGRAM (Adults only; flexible)
Look Good Feel Better is a free program that teaches female cancer patients beauty techniques to help restore their appearance and self-image during chemotherapy and radiation treatments.  Volunteer beauty professionals lead small groups of women through practical, hands-on experience working with makeup techniques, skin care, nail care, and options related to hair loss such as wigs, turbans and scarves.  All volunteers are trained and certified for Look Good Feel Better locally by the American Cancer Society and participate in annual update courses.

MRI (Adults only; Monday – Friday, flexible shifts)
Volunteers perform a variety of tasks for staff and patients, including escorting patients, running errands and paperwork.

RADIATION ONCOLOGY (Minimum age 17; Monday – Friday, morning and afternoon shifts)
Volunteers provide clerical assistance to staff.

REHAB - OUTPATIENT (Minimum age 16; Monday – Friday, morning and afternoon shifts)
Volunteers supplement the Physical Rehab staff by doing non-patient care duties, which include wheelchair transport of patients from department to hospital entrance, clerical support to staff, cleaning and re-stocking exam rooms and keeping the gym and weights orderly.  Volunteers perform these duties while being able to observe patients. 
REHAB - MIDWAY CLINIC LOCATION (Minimum age 17;  Monday – Friday, morning and afternoon shifts)
Volunteers provide clerical support to staff, clean and re-stock exam rooms, keep gym and weights orderly while being able to observe patients.
ST. ELIZABETH HOSPITAL AUXILIARY (Adults only; flexible)
The St. Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary is a board-managed, not-for-profit organization of volunteers who are dedicated to the needs of St. Elizabeth Hospital, its patients, visitors and employees.  The auxiliary assists St. Elizabeth Hospital in promoting the health and welfare of the community and conducts fundraising activities for the services of St. Elizabeth Hospital and local student scholarships.  The auxiliary raises funds through the Gift Shop and other special events.  There is no annual membership fee for active volunteers of St. Elizabeth Hospital.

SHAMPOO SERVICES (Adults only; Thursday mornings)
Volunteers provide shampoo services to patients.  Also help brighten patients' day with light conversation while this service is being performed.  Wash, set and style hair when dry.

SPECIAL PROJECTS (Minimum age 14; Thursday, morning or afternoon shifts)
Volunteers work as a group to assemble paperwork, mailing projects, patient charts and packets for various departments.
SURGERY DEPARTMENT - OUTPATIENT (Minimum age 17; Monday–Friday mid-day)
Volunteers provide wheelchair transport of patients from department to car for hospital discharge.   Duties also include cleaning gurneys and making up with new sheets and blankets, running errands for staff/patients, assembling charts.
SURGICAL WAITING ROOM (Adults only; Monday-Friday, morning and afternoon shifts)
Volunteers serve as the liaison between the surgical staff, patients and the waiting family by keeping families informed of the patient’s progress from surgery to the recovery room to the patient unit. Volunteers maintain the snack area and keep the waiting room tidy. 
SURGICAL WAITING ROOM - MIDWAY CLINIC LOCATION (Adults only; Monday-Friday, morning and afternoon shifts)
Volunteers serve as the liaison between the surgical staff, patients and the waiting family by keeping families informed of the patient’s progress from surgery to the recovery room to the patient unit. Volunteers maintain the snack area and keep the waiting room tidy. 
TOUR GUIDE (Adults only; as needed)
Volunteers conduct scheduled tours of the hospital for groups of children.
TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT (Minimum age 14; Monday – Friday, flexible)
Volunteer checks the inventory of supplies in each meeting room at St. Elizabeth Hospital and replenishes what is needed.
WELCOME CENTER (Minimum age 14; Monday–Friday, morning, afternoon and evening shifts; Saturday and Sunday, morning and afternoon shifts)
Volunteers greet, escort or provide wheelchair transport to visitors and patients within the facility.  Assist staff in providing information when requested and also help to keep the desk and lobby area tidy.
