Planned Giving
Donors have a variety of choices available for giving an estate gift to Mercy Health Foundation.
Gift management choices include:
Mercy Health Foundation Funds: Donors may choose from a menu of funds or create a Donor Advised Fund for more control of distribution. Mercy Health Foundation manages and administers donor funds. The donor directs allocation during his or her lifetime. After death, the foundation board of trustees or another appointee directs distributions within established guidelines.
Private Gift Fund: Many major fund managers now offer charitable gift funds – a popular tool for administering annual gifts to favorite charities. Clients may establish a fund using appreciated securities or other assets for favorable tax benefits. The fund manager invests the assets and the client distributes charitable contributions to favorite charities.
Family Foundation, Trust, or Limited Partnership: Appropriate for families with substantial wealth and those who wish to establish a philanthropic tradition across generations. This option offers maximum control over charitable distribution, but cost and legal requirements may be a consideration.
Community Foundation Advised Fund: A popular choice for donors who have multiple charitable interests in a specific community. Donor Advised Funds are similar to the private gift fund. A community foundation manages the fund, and the donor directs distribution during his or her lifetime. After death, distributions are directed as a living legacy by the foundation or another appointee.
Signature Society Membership
The Signature Society is open to individuals who have included the Mercy Health Foundation in their charitable estate plans. Members select from a menu of project options or create a charitable plan that supports an area of personal interest.
Mercy Health Foundation offers a variety of benefits to Signature Society members that include:
• recognition on the Friends for Life donor wall
• complimentary estate planning education by a licensed professional
• invitation to financial and estate planning education workshops
• invitation to the annual Friends for Life Donor Celebration
• private tours of Mercy Medical Center in areas of special interest
• a copy of the annual donor report
• a copy of About Health wellness newsletter from Affinity Health System.
You will also receive:
• with an irrevocable gift of $25,000 or more, a complimentary Membership in Passport 55
• with an irrevocable gift of $50,000 or more, the coveted Health Care Hero Award, invitation to the annual Leadership Council dinner, and a complimentary membership in Passport 55.
